Bundaberg Rugby League - Round Four: Past Brothers Bundaberg vs Western Suburbs Panthers

Game 3 of Round 4

We saw Past Brothers take on the Western Suburbs Panthers, and once again it was a similar result to recent weeks for the Wests outfit. The Brothers pack dominated the middle, with their outside backs capitalising on the platform laid up front.

Wests conceded plenty of points again this round and were dominated in multiple areas of the field. That said, they did show some improvement, managing to put a few points on the board themselves. However, their defensive efforts still need work—they looked a bit sloppy at times and lacked effort in key areas. They are improving week by week, but they’re still not quite at the standard of this competition. One thing you can’t fault, though, is that they never go away.

Brothers had a field day in this one. Their ruck speed was electric, and their quick play-the-balls allowed them to take control from the outset. Zander Evans was outstanding, breaking multiple tackles and making big metres through the middle to build momentum for his side. The halves pairing controlled the game beautifully, guiding the team around the park with composure and confidence, especially in key moments. In the end, Brothers simply outworked, outhustled, and out-enthused the Wests outfit.

Wests are continuing to improve, and you can see them getting better each game. Hopefully, they can turn their season around soon. Brothers were just too strong on the day. Next week, Wests take on the Maryborough Wallaroos, while Brothers face the undefeated Easts Magpies in what promises to be a great contest.
